Sequence Stratigraphy of the European Basins

Geolink has developed and continuously refined a sequence stratigraphic framework for the Norwegian Sea, North Sea, and Barents Sea basins, building on the landmark Sequence Stratigraphy of European Basins (SEPM, 1998). Over the years, this work has become a cornerstone of our regional studies, allowing us to identify unique stratigraphic signatures for each sub-basin.

By using third-order depositional sequences as the foundation for longer-term transgressive–regressive cycles, we deliver a high-resolution stratigraphic model (~0.8 Myr) that integrates seamlessly with broader seismic-scale frameworks. This approach provides our clients with robust regional facies maps and a deeper understanding of basin evolution—making it a key research axis in the way we unlock geological insight at regional scale.
