A possible source for natural hydrogen ?
When considering the most favorable geological province for hydrogen exploration, the Norwegian Sea region presents several features that make it particularly promising:
Thinned-crust basins, where serpentinization of ultramafic rocks may occur in the deeper parts of the Vøring Basin.
An extensive system of magmatic intrusions (Latest Paleocene sills and dykes) emplaced within the thick Cretaceous stratigraphic succession of the Vøring Basin.
Shallow granitic basement highs accompanied by subsequent volcanic intrusions
